Creative Paper Folding Artist

Continuing on pleating technique, I looked in to creative paper folding artist to get inspiration for other ways of folding and how I can incorporate it in to fashion designs.

Pleating Technique

 Two pieces of paper folded the same to create a wedge technique to allow my fabric to sit in between.

 Putting a piece of polyester cotton blend fabric in between i can then steam with an iron for 5 mins

Skirt Block Manipulation

Taking the back and the front skirt block I placed them together on dot and cross paper to form a no side seam skirt.

 

 I then wanted to have one dart on the back panel as I have created a middle dart. Marking out the distance between the two darts I draw a line alone the middle up. Measuring the two darts and diving it by two then adding that number to either side of my middle line gives me the dart.

Cut around the block and join the darts together.

 


Using the front dart I draw my first swirl then using the middle dart and draw the second through the last dart.

Now my block is ready to be cut.

My attempt to re create the deadlocks for my garment idea, using wool.

Basic Block

Here I have created my basic block and opened my side dart and closed the top and bottom dart, now I'll have a simple side dart for my garmen.

 I've now again closed the top and bottom darts to opened a new dart through the neck to the bust.
